Bud Light

I recall I had a Bud Light only once before, on New Years Eve 2009. I could be wrong, both about the date and that I've had it once before, but that's what I recall.

Remy Martin XO Excellence

20101221:
On the rocks.

While I've enabled myself to make decent descriptions on how I think beers taste, I haven't tasted a enough spirits to describe nor fully appreciate the different types, flavors, and other genre-specific qualities.

I thought the taste of the cognac was stronger than the taste of either two whiskeys I drank yesterday. In particular, I believe the strength is in the taste, not the alcoholic content.

As a stronger statement (no pun intended), the taste of the cognac was tastier than the taste of either two whiskeys I tried yesterday.

The colour is warm amber, and on the nose you'll pick up the trademark Bowmore peaty smokiness, along with subtle notes of lemon, honey and chocolate.

How to best enjoy our 12 years old: Our 12 years old is at one with the elements. To fully enjoy the aroma, savour it outside in the fresh air.

Food match: Why not enjoy it during a meal to accompany smoked salmon served with lemon and fresh black pepper on oatcakes?

TASTING NOTES
Appearance: Glowing amber
Nose: Heather-honey sweetness; peaty smokiness
Palate: Rounded smoky sweetness; full malt delivery
Finish: Teasing, heathery, subtle smoke. Delicious

Take your time to appreciate the nose of Highland Park 12 and you’ll discover the characteristic honey sweetness followed by fruit – maybe pineapple, apple or pear. On the palate it is drying and leaves a gentle smokey feeling and a flavour that just keeps on going.

Irish Coffee

The essential components of an Irish Coffee are coffee, sugar, (Jameson) Irish whiskey, and topped with (slightly) whipped (heavy) cream.

It's early in the morning, but the drink has coffee in it!

Irish Coffee (20100319)

Writing this stub today (20180712), I'm surprised to find notes which lack the minimal amount of information to say anything. While this still occurs from time to time, the relative occurrence is lower.

In any case, I'm guessing it's an Irish Coffee, because I'm at "Shannon's Irish Pub" and it kind of looks like one.

Furthermore, knowing me, I must have decided to get it after having it for the first time earlier in the year (20100319).

Pickle Back

20101003:
The batizado here in New York was great. Now it's time for the fun and dancing. But first, we make a quick stop at a bar for a quick shot. A few of us were in for a surprise, for we had not tried this shot before, and those that knew wouldn't tell us what it was about. I guess they were afraid we wouldn't try it if we knew.

The drink is a shot of whiskey (many recipes call for Jameson Irish whiskey) followed by a shot of pickle juice. It tasted great.

[20101215]

20140729:
They have pickle backs here at Hooters! Remembering the great taste from several years back, I convinced my friend to try it. Unfortunately, they gave us more than a shot worth of pickle juice and I was too inexperienced to realize that just a shot worth of pickle juice would have tasted better.

Punkin Ale is named after a locally-famous and seriously off-centered event here in southern Delaware - Punkin Chunkin (check out some of these Discovery Channel videos of Punkin Chunkin, you gotta see it to believe it!). In fact, Punkin Ale made it's debut as it claimed First Prize in the 1994 Punkin Chunkin Recipe Conest - yes, that was a full 6 months before we even opened our doors for business. Punkin Chunkin has grown in size and scale with pumpkins now being hurled more than 4,000 feet through the air! If you come down to see if for yourself - come by and visit us.

Since then, we've brewed Punkin Ale each and every fall. It is released right around September first each year. When you find it, grab some extra because it's usually gone by Thanksgiving.

BEER CHARACTERISTICS - UFO HEFEWEIZEN
UFO Hefeweizen is an American unfiltered wheat beer. Perhaps UFO’s initial sensory perception is also its most prominent: a cloudy golden color and a dense, frothy head. The yeast, which has not been filtered out, accounts for the cloudiness of UFO. Wheat malt tends to create a larger head than barley malt, the cereal grain most often used in brewing. When served in a traditional wheat beer glass with a lemon, UFO presents an appealing and distinctive visual image.

The aroma has a faint but clear citrus-like character. This is produced by the special yeast and accounts for the Bavarian tradition of serving hefeweizens with a lemon. The lemon accentuates the yeast’s fruity, tart fragrance. UFO has a soft mouthfeel and a refreshing, light body. The wheat malts and subtle hopping give the beer a mild, delicate flavor. UFO has a clean finish. Unlike some imported hefeweizens, UFO does not have the spicy, tropical flavors typical of European-brewed style.

The overall character is a cloudy appearance with a citrus-like aroma, light body, and clean finish. Serve with a lemon.

Liquid Cocaine

20100630:
My original draft post listed the following three liquors beneath "Liquid Cocaine": Cinnamon Schnapp, Goldschlager, Captain Morgan Spiced Rum. However, I looked up recipes for Liquid Cocaine (20180704) and couldn't find any which used the three together. Furthermore, Goldschlager is a cinnamon schnapp.

Four glasses of Liquid Cocaine. (10:41 PM)

With that being said, the above photo resembles pictures of layered Liquid Cocaine on the internet. By color, I'm certain the black liquid at the top of the drink is neither Captain Morgan nor Goldschlager; it's probably not cinnamon schnapps either (if I wasn't already referring to the Goldschlager in my draft post). At this point, I would safely assume the dark liquid is Jägermeister.

In any case, I wrote the following: "GOOD, will miss."*
