Sinebrychoff Porter

I wrote: "Sinebrychoff Porter. Finland 11.2 fl oz. 7.2% ABV. Slight chocolate smell. And only a subtle chocolate taste. Quite bitter. I don't enjoy it. Maybe I let it warm too long. 25 min." 10:06 PM

In contrast to my opinions of the beer, Sinebrychoff Porter has favorable ratings on BeerAdvocate.com.

I was fortunate to get a sip or two of C.K.'s DuClaw 31. While it was good, I wouldn't want to drink an entire 22 oz. bottle by myself.

Heavy Seas Black Cannon

Lagunitas Cappuccino Stout

20120218:
This Cappuccino Stout has a good and detectable cappuccino taste. In comparison, the chocolate notes typical of a stout are harder to detect. My previous two drinks, a Flying Dog Black Lager with Cherries and a Flying Dog Gonzo Imperial Porter,* have definitely affected my mind." 8:23 PM ET

I like this beer. However, I like the Flying Dog Black Lager with Cherries more. 8:40 PM ET

*[20200113: I originally listed the Heavy Seas Black Cannon as one of my previous drinks. However, I believe I have made an error.]

20120429:
"Bottle. This beer has a lovely cappuccino smell. There's a coffee taste. It's a great beer. I don't know why I didn't say or mention such." 12:51 AM

Not related to the beer, I had my first ever Zebra Cake (Little Debbie).

"The taste has some coffee in it, but there's also tastes (and smells) standard to a stout which are distinct from the cappuccino taste (and smell). There's most certainly a coffee aftertaste. It's goooood. The sangria probably helped dull any bitterness I would have otherwise encountered." 1:16 AM

20150327:
Today at Slater's 50/50 Burger I had a beer flight plus an additional sampler.

Originally wanting the Dogfish Head 120 Minute IPA, the waitress came back and said they were out of it. As such, I decided to get the Cappuccino Stout instead.

Color: Very dark red. 8:32PM PT

1. 2: The beer has a slight coffee smell. Before tasting it, I cleanse my palate with (ice-less) water. Giving the beer another sniff, I find the coffee smell is more pronounced. Tasting the beer, I find it has a little coffee taste with just a little bit of sweetness. Overall, the sweetness doesn't compete with the bitterness, which is similar to the bitterness of coffee served black. 8:42PM PT 3. 4.

With the spiciness from the burger in mind:
1. 2: I definitely taste the coffee flavor. 3. 4.

At this point, I wonder if I should taste these beers in a different order. 9:24PM PT

5. 4. 3. 2: The nice thing about the cappuccino stout is that it is easy going. In particular, I don't detect any bitterness (as a beer), and the beer is not strong. 5. 1. 9:49PM PT

They are as follows:
1. Mother Earth Cali' Creamin'
2. Lagunitas Cappuccino Stout
3. Great Divide Yeti Imperial Stout
4. Stone Old Guardian Barley Wine - Extra Hoppy
5. Epic Big Bad Baptist

Flying Dog Gonzo Imperial Porter

20120218:
I had this beer while at Golden West Cafe.

Despite being a porter, the beer is hoppy; it smells and tastes like an IPA. 8:01 PM

(20120218)

It's unfortunate I didn't end up taking more notes than I did. Overall reviews for the Gonzo Imperial Porter on BeerAdvocate.com and RateBeer.com are highly favorable. Though there's certainly a bias towards certain beers surrounding such websites.

Afterwards I had a Lagunitas Cappucino Stout.

[20120422][20200113 Edit]

20140606:
Today at Golden West Cafe I had buffalo sprouts, a wrap, and a Flying Dog Gonzo Imperial Porter.

The beer had a nice IPA smell. It was dark black in color. It dominantly tasted like a stout followed by nice, deep, chocolate flavor. 7:08 PM ET

(20140606)

The second sip dominantly tasted like an IPA. What a dynamic-tasting beer. 7:10PM ET

Yeah, the Gonzo is interesting: chocolate on the first sip, IPA/strong alcoholic taste on an immediate second sip. 7:44 PM ET

The final sip of the beer had a strong taste, because of the the wrap which I was eating. Delicious. 8:18PM ET

Borne of our brewers’ many trips to Germany, Alpine Spring features a unique blend of lager attributes: the balanced maltiness and hoppiness of a Helles, the smoothness and slightly higher alcohol of a traditional spring bock, and the unfiltered appearance of a Kellerbier. Heavy Seas Loose Cannon Hop3

20110203:
Today I had a Loose Cannon, a mixed drink, and a Yuengling.

(20120213)
It had a pleasant smell, but I didn't know how to describe it.

There was a slight bitter aftertaste. It was pretty strong, but not terribly strong, and had no bite.

7.25% ABV. 12 fl oz bottle.

[20110420][20161007 Edit]

20120213:
The beer had a lovely IPA smell. I could smell the hops! I smelled it and couldn't wait to taste it; it smelled nice.

(20110203)

It didn't have a bite, and there was little to no carbonation. I definitely prefer less fizz to more. 12:44 AM

The lingering aftertaste was a little bitter.

The purchase before date wasn't notched. The year choices were 11 12 and 13. 12:47 AM

[20120421][20161007 Edit]*

*An interesting coincidence: the previous two entries occurred almost a year apart (20110203, 20120213) and their entries were entered almost a year apart (20110420/20110421).

Burnished gold with a rich citrus hop aroma, it is wonderfully drinkable with a big hop flavor. We’ve nicknamed it Hop3 (hop cubed) ale to reflect the enormous amount of hops in this beer: over 3 pounds per barrel! It is hopped 3 ways: in the kettle, in the hop back, and dry hopped. Pairs well with strong cheeses and steak. 2nd Place CAMRA award winner at the 2010 Great British Beer Festival

Mangorita at Blue Agave

20120211:
My friends and I went to Blue Agave. TO drink I had a Mangorita.

I wrote the following: "Mangorita. El Jimador Blanco, Triple Sec, mango puree & fresh lime glass. Ooo good. I like the salt. Haha. Lime salt. The mango is more apparent on the aftertaste." 8:53 PM ET
I also wrote the following: "The mango is subtle. I find it's main job is to hide the alcohol." 9:04 PM ET

As natural as tequila can get, el Jimador Blanco, which means "white" in Spanish, is a remarkably crystal clear tequila that is bottled immediately after distillation. But don’t let that clarity fool you, this tequila’s unique taste comes straight from the 100% blue agave it's made from. A crisp, authentic tequila with subtle cooked agave taste and hints of citrusy sweetness that make it the exceptional choice for great tequila cocktails.
