2008 Edmeades Mendocino Zinfandel
The 2008 Edmeades Mendocino Zin is reminiscent of Sunday night dinner with the whole family:
aromas of Great Grandma Jancine’s homemade cherry pie coming out of the oven, the fireplace roaring with oak logs and everyone looking forward to a great evening of wine, food, and camaraderie.
This year’s tannins are soft and supple, the cherry fruit is vivacious, and the addition of Petite Sirah and Syrah adds a nice rural feel with earthy notes and some nice structure. Aging the wine should help it evolve into a nicely layered and complex Zinfandel, with toast and smokiness from the oak picking up in intensity.
