Lightning Thunderweizen

20120711:
My friend and I came to Slater's 50/50 today and I originally wanted the Stone Vanilla Bean Smoked Porter (CA 4.4% ABV 53 IBU), but they ran out. Thus I started off trying samples of the Stone Levitation Ale and the Stone Sublimely Self-Righteous Ale.

Status: Two-thirds full. Left to right: Banana Bread, Nut Brown, Arrogant Bastard, Thunderweizen.

I ultimately ordered a beer flight of which I tried the Thunderweizen second.

I wrote: "#4 has a nice fishy citrus sort of smell. It has a particular hefeweizen flavor which I don't like. It tastes familiar. I can almost put my finger on it. At first I thought the Thunderweizen tasted like a Corona, but then determined that it didn't. Regardless, it tastes like a beer I've had before." 7:42 PM PDT

Beer Flight:
1) Wells Banana Bread Beer
2) AleSmith (Nautical) Nut Brown Ale
3) Stone Arrogant Bastard Ale
4) Lightning Thunderweizen

Thunderweizen Ale

5.5% ABV

The Thunderweizen is brewed in the style of a traditional German Hefeweizen: lots of wheat, vigorous fermentation, and completely unfiltered for a full, refreshing flavor that perfectly compliments San Diego's perpetual good weather. Despite the hints of banana, citrus, clove, and other spices, we do not add additives to our beer - that impressive flavor is naturally produced.
