After drinking a Pacifico and a Speakeasy Big Daddy IPA at the NextSpace happy hour, I had a Ballast Point Sculpin IPA and Mission Dark Seas (Russian Imperial Stout) over at Eureka!.
I thought the Ballast Point Sculpin IPA had a nice IPA smell. It has more of a taste than the Speakeasy Big Daddy IPA. There is, however, more of a bitterness coming from the Sculpin IPA.

On a related note, I originally wanted the Ballast Point Grapefruit Sculpin, but that keg had kicked and, without asking me, the bartender returned with the Sculpin IPA instead. While, given the choice, I would have chosen a different beer, I was also content with the Sculpin IPA. As such, I let the bartender leave without any commotion.
With that being said, consider the following:
I went into a shoe store and I said, "Can I get those in a ten?" The guy said "Sure," and he went in the back. Then a couple minutes later he came out and he goes, "I don't have a ten, I have a nine." [So I said,] "Great... 'cause while you were in the back, my toes were severed off." "Normally it would be retarded for you to say a number different than what we agreed on. But given my very recent accident you're right on." "Congratulations, you're rehired." - Demetri MartinIn any case, as happy hour was coming to an end, I ordered a Mission Dark Seas before finishing my Sculpin IPA. 6:47PM PT
As I was finishing off the Sculpin IPA and the Dark Seas, the strength of the Dark Seas was apparent. I also find the Dark Seas has more of a taste than the Sculpin IPA; I wonder why. 7:00 PM PT

Sculpin IPA
The Sculpin is a testament to our humble beginnings as Home Brew Mart. It showcases bright flavors and aromas of apricot, peach, mango & lemon. The lighter body also brings out the crispness of the hops.
This delicious Ballast Point Ale won a gold medal at the World Beer Cup 2010 in the International Pale Ale category. The Sculpin fish has poisonous spikes on it’s fins that can give a strong sting.
Ironically, the meat from a Sculpin is considered some of the tastiest. Something that has a sting but tastes great, sounds like a Ballast Point India Pale Ale.
