Remark: I learned while writing this post that Amstel Lager isn't available in the USA - only Amstel Light. From what I gather, this is because Amstel is owned by Heineken, and Heineken decided not to sell both Heineken Lager and Amstel Lager in a single market. Interestingly, Heineken introduced Heineken Light to the United States market in 2005.
Another Remark: Amstel is the name of a river in Amsterdam. Actually, Amsterdam is also named after the river: Amstelredamme -> Amsteldam -> Amsterdam.
